Vertex is at the forefront of cutting edge scientific research with three transformative medicines on the market, and we are continuing to build out our patient support team (Guidance and Patient Support team (GPS).Our GPS team is the face of Vertex to patients with cystic fibrosis who are prescribed our medicines - ensuring they can access their therapy, providing educational resources, and helping them stay on track with their treatment plan. Each Patient Support Specialist provides personalized support for CF care centers and patients. In addition to their day-to-day responsibilities, team members have the opportunity to work on cross-functional projects to meet individual development plans for future growth. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide extraordinary service and build meaningful connections with patients and external partners
  • Solve problems with urgency to help patients/caregiver gain access to therapy and maintain adherence
  • Partner with reimbursement vendor to obtain information needed for reimbursement
  • Use reimbursement knowledge to counsel patient/caregiver on options and assess financial assistance eligibility
  • Act as the liaison and develop relationships with CF Care Centers
  • Support compliance through product education
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to seek out opportunities to support your teammates
  • Navigate CRM system with ease and rapidly learn internal team processes
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient health information and act in compliance with all laws, regulations and Vertex policies

Qualification:

  • 3+ years of Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology patient support experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Skilled at relationship management and committed to helping others
  • Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Expertise in payer reimbursement (including benefit investigations, prior authorizations, and appeals)
  • Willingness to work in a dynamic environment and excellent prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate appropriate judgment in decision making and tirelessly problem solve
  • Capability to work independently, multitask and self-prioritize workload
  • Ability to function as a dedicated team player
  • Fluency in Spanish (optional)
