JOB TITLE:              Corporate Vice President & Associate General Counsel


LOCATION:             San Francisco, CA



Job Description:


The NY Life Legal Department seeks a real estate attorney with a minimum of 7 years’ experience to support NY Life Real Estate Investors, a team of 150 investment professionals.  Required expertise includes: (i) experience relating to private real estate funds, including fund formation, use of REIT structure for foreign investors, related ’40 Act and tax issues, and client onboarding requirements; (ii) experience in all aspects of real estate equity transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures and asset management; (iii) representation of institutional mortgage lenders, construction lenders and mezzanine lenders; and (iv) in-depth experience negotiating loan documentation including intercreditor, co-lender and participation agreements, both in pari passu and senior/subordinate contexts. 


Required Qualifications:


Exceptional reading, writing and communication skills, as well as solid organizational and planning skills are required.  Recent experience in the real estate department of a large law firm is preferred, although attorneys currently employed at financial institutions will be considered.  JD and admission to the California State Bar are required.
